Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Swollen Scrotum When Diagnosed With Deep Vein Thrombosis?
My husband just came home from the hospital yesterday-he had a DVT and a PE-now he s on xarelto and Diatizem-his leg that was affected with the DVT is quite swollen which we were told would be that way for some time-hhowever his scrotum is swollen really large too this afternoon -is that normal -should we be alarmed?
As per my clinical experience, the scrotal edema is in relation with the extravasation of the extra fluid in the scrotal sac, which is not normal and alarming. The underlying cause may be in relation with the issue of: - Heart failure - Protein level alteration - Others
However, a confirmatory ultrasound of the scrotum with color Doppler is must in this instance.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
