What Causes Swollen Throat And Dry Cough Despite Taking Pantosec-D And Ancool?

Hi! M Neha. From past 15 days my throat glands are swollen. Initially 10 days doctor gv me Augmentin 625, pentosec D, and Azid 250 as I was diagnosed with pharyngitis, tonsillis, swollen glands and reflux.. and from past 4 days my tonsils has improved so m off antibiotics. Now m having pentosec D and Ancool syrup coz my glands are still swollen and m having dry cough during nights. Doctor says it s reflux...but m not getting much relief. PLZ advice

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of swollen throat and dry cough despite taking Pantosec-D and Ancool which seems to be due to chest infection/ chronic upper respiratory tract infection. Soemtimes dry cough also occur due to acid reflux which can not be cure only with diet , you also have to change your life style ,avoid heavy and spicy food , take small meals , eat atleast one hour before goint to bed and keep your head elevated while laying down . I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles. You should take cough expectorants. You should take antibiotic Levofloxacin in combination with antiallergic medication. Visit gastroenterologist once and get it examined. You should get chest X-ray done and start treatment after proper diagnosis have been made. Drink plenty of warm water.
