What Causes Swollen Throat, Horse Voice, Difficulty In Swallowing And Insomnia?

I have a swollen throat, horse voice sometimes, mostly hard to swallow, saliva or food, tired most of the time even after 8 hours of sleep. My doctor booked a sleep apnea test in 2 weeks, but still waiting to get a barium x-ray for my throat. Most of the symptoms have been showing up for 6 months.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Allergic throat inflammation with sometimes secondary infection spread to tonsils & larynx can give you such symptoms.

Please consult an ENT doctor for more specific treatment. Till then take rest, avoid exposure to allergens (cold, sour things, dust, fume). Do hot saline gargles. Take over the counter allergy pill.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
