What Causes Swollen Tongue And Mouth After Teeth Removal?

I had 26 teeth extracted. It has been 14 weeks and my tongue and mouth are still really swollen and I thought I was allergic to the cleanser for my dentures and my dentures them selves. Could the swelling be caused from all the bone fragments I have in my bottom gums?

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of swollen tongue and mouth after teeth removal is mainly because of injury to nerve/ blood vessel during tooth extraction. Yes it could be due to denture material allergy as well but in that case it will cause redness and ulceration rather than swelling. I would suggest you to visit dentist once and get it examined. Apply ice to prevent swelling, Eating celery sticks and turmeric is one of the natural way of reducing swelling and pain. Swallow soft food for few days till the time your symptoms don't resolve. Do warm saline gargles. Maintain proper oral hygiene. Start taking anti inflammatory drugs if it is due to allergic reaction to denture material. Drink plenty of water.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
