A week ago I was choking on a piece of gum. Since then I still feel something in the back of my throat and my heart has been racing. I have gone to the emergency room and and x-ray was done and it was clear but my tonsils are swollen should I go back to the er? I m on week 2 of discomfort.
Hello. Welcome to hcm. Gum sticks to throat even after clearing and since you had a chocking sensation, it must be that the gum might have been stuck in your tonsillar crypts. Xray will not detect anything. Consult your ENT specialist who will do a videolaryngoscopy to check for gum remnants and see if your tonsils are congested and treat you accordingly All the best
