What Causes Swollen Tonsils And Severe Cough?

Hi, I m an 18 year old female who has been suffering from a chesty cough for around 2 weeks. Recently I noticed one of my tonsils is swollen however it only hurts sometimes when I swallow but it mostly gives me discomfort when I am yawning. I can still eat, drink and breathe normally. What is the cause of this and will I need to see my GP or will this heal through time? I m currently taking a chesty cough bottle and paracetamol.

HI
Well come to HCM
Ideally cough symptom more than couple of week old need to be investigated for underlying cause, of course this could be allergic one but this can not taken as granted unless other possibilities turned unremarkable, if this is so then you can try second generation antihistamine and that would Tab Loratidine with pseudoephedrine three times in day, hope this information helps, take care.
