I have a swollen right tonsil with a touch of white on it. I also have white bumps on both sides of the very back of my tongue. It feels like there is a lump in my throat when I swallow. otherwise I feel fine. what should I do? I have been gargling with salt water and staying hydrated.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.

As per your complain swollen tonsils along with white patch and swollen bumps at the back of tongue that seems to be swollen Circumvallate Papillae and the symptoms can be due to bacterial infection in throat..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and throat swab culture can help in confirming the diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly..
In case if infection is ruled out Antibiotics like Azithromycin, anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, warm saline gargles and steam inhalation..
Avoid spicy and hard foods..
If the tongue papillae are sore gargle with a numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
