Hello...I had a sore throat that kept getting worse over the last few days. It appeared that my tonsils were swollen somewhat and I had a blood spot on the back of my throat. I wasn t sure if it was more than just allergies so I went to an Express Care clinic yesterday. They took a throat culture and on preliminary look said that strep didn t appear however they were sending it out for full test. The PA that I saw thought that my sore throat was just from allergies and asked what I took. I take Loratadine (10mg once a day) and Chlorpheniramine (4mg every 4 to 6 hours if needed). He suggested I try Allegra D. I mentioned that with High Blood pressure, I wasn t sure I could take that. I am on Lisinopril (10mg) and Hydrochlorothiazide (25mg a day) for that. He said since my blood pressure was only 113/84 when I was there it was okay to take the Allegra D. I have taken 2 so far (12 hours apart) and my sore throat has lessened but is still there. I also feel like there is a lump in my throat. I just coughed up some mucus with some spots of blood in it. Just wondering if this could be the Allegra D? Wondering if I should stop taking it?
