What Causes Swollen Tonsils With White Spots And Lump At The Back Of The Throat?

Hi I have red swollen tonsils, they did have white spots on them but they went away and now they are just red and I keep feeling a lump in the back of my throat and there s also a yellow spot in the back of it also, I haven t really been smoking that long but I m afraid it might be cancer, please help me!

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of swollen tonsils with white spots and lump at the back of throat which seems to be due to tonsil stones and it could be tonsillitis.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis and rule out other causes. Doctor may prescribe your proper course of antibiotics along with antiinflammatory medications. You should do warm saline gargles and avoid intake of any sharp, spicy and fried food substances. You should suck on lemon candy. Usually treatment is not required as tonsils will clean themselves and if they are causing any discomfort then doctor may remove them which is a minor surgical procedure.
