What Causes Swollen Upper Lip After Eating Pancakes?

Hi Doctor I m a fifteen year old girl As far as i know im not allergic to anything but yesterday when i ate hot pancakes something that i always eat the left side of my upper lip started burning i thought it was from the pancackes being hot but then today it was bothering me all day but i had yet to look at it through a mirror but my mom noticed that it was swollen and i dont know where its from could it be from the pancakes, but it would be weird because i always eat hot pancackes and nothing happens

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain swollen upper lip seems most probably due to Allergic Angioedema of the lip and can be caused due to allergic reaction to any of the ingredient of the pancake or any other food that you have taken along with it..
There might be any harmful ingredient like any expired or unwanted ingredient added in it can also be a cause..
It you have eaten it extremely hot then it can cause sudden thermal trauma to the delicate mucosa and can cause slight swelling..
The reaction seems mild so need not to worry.
You can apply numbing gel at the burning area, do cool compresses and avoid hot and spicy food..
You can also take an anti allergic like levocetrizine for reducing swelling..
