What Causes Swollen Vagina Despite Taking Fluconazole For Yeast Infection?

I ve been taking antibiotics for 5 days for a UTI, and I developed a yeast infection because of it. I was prescribed 1 dose of Flucozanole, and I took that 4 days ago. I am feeling swelling in my vagina and still having white thick discharge, will this go away? How long does the Flucozanole take to work? I have 5 more days of antibiotics to take and I m afraid the yeast infection will not heal.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

If you are still having a thick discharge after 4 days with not even a slight decrease in symptoms, it is possible that you need to be retreated.

This can be with a repeat dose of the fluconazole or with a topical vaginal cream or ovule.

Yeast infections can sometimes be difficult to treat or respond slowly to medication.

I hope this helps
