Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Syncope With History Of Having Hypertension And TIA?
59 year-old male with history of hypertension, fully managed with medication and diet. One TIA six years ago with no lasting effects. One week ago I experienced a syncope episode preceded by diaphoresis. I was conducting choir rehearsal and the sweating (which for me is normal) was the only precursor. EMTs were called. Vitals remained normal. Labs at ER revealed D-dimer of 6000+. CT showed no PE. I was released. Follow-up with PCP was unremarkable - BP normal and EKG was fine. I have already had a cardio workup within the past year with normal results for both stress test and echocardiogram. Now, one week later, I feel fine. Thoughts?
In the light of short history given by you this seems to be neurogenic. I need to know what were your sugar levels at that time if checked. I suggest you to repeat your D-Dimers, if still remains high, I suggest you to visit your doctor to see for its occult cause.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Sameen Bin Naeem, General & Family Physician
