What Causes Tachycardia And High Pulse Rate In A 56 Year Old Woman?

56 year old female. After wearing heart monitor for 2 days, was told I had 89,300 events of SVT and 12 times too fast heart run away events. Took Lisinopril and Metapropol for 3 weeks that changed nothing and made me feel tired, nauseous and slightly depressed. Saw EP that told me go investigate on internet about PVC ablation. Said it does not always work. Seems my problem might be in left side of heart. Also I don t understand how I have fast heart rate run away when my pulse has been measuring below below 60 most of the time with blood pressure machine?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Before running into final conclusions I want to analyze Holter monitoring results myself. Can you please send me a copy of the results.

Next, you are female 56, age of menopausal hormonal changes that can explain partly the changes in heart rates ( related to possible hot flushes).

But first should rule out heart problems, so please send me a copy of the Holter monitoring results.

You can discuss the hormonal changes further with your caring doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
