Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Tachycardia While On Calaptin And Metpure?
I have avnrt currently on calaptin 240 SR and metpure XL 50 mg when I am w alking brisk walk around 15 minutes I get tachycardia 200bpm or while standing outside (hot temperature ) hardly 5 minutes I get tachycardia please provide me some medicines so I can overcome my problems any EPS there ?
Suggestive of unresponsive treatment. Calaptin (Verapamil) & Metpure-XL (Metoprolol) are commonly prescribed to treat AV Nodal Reentrant Tachycardia (AVNRT). Their common side effects include decreased heart beats and low blood pressure. They do not cause tachycardia as such. From the given history you seem to be not responding to the standard treatment of this type of tachycardia (increased heart beats). I advise you to consult your cardiologist for further evaluation like an electrophysiology study and possible effective treatment in the form of catheter ablation.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
