What Causes Tearing Sound After A Fractured Tibia And Fibula At The Knee?

About 15 months ago I fractured my Tibia and Fibula at the knee joint also partially damaged my meniscus and partially torn MCL, never had surgery. I have been done with PT about 9 months now, but over the past couple of months I've started hearing a tearing sound or stretching sound(not a popping sound) when I stand up, fairly consistently. There has always been some mild discomfort since the original accident, but periodically it can be more substantial now, I'm 36 years old, 5'9" and 165lbs.
