What Causes Temporary Blindness In Eye?

I have had several episodes lately where I have temporary blindness in my only my left eye. It also feels like I have a slight pressure in the left eye that isn t going away. The blindness lasts 5-10 seconds and then clears up. My entire field of vision is gone in the left eye and vision slowly returns in the center and then expands outward until I have normal vision again. These episodes seem to occur when I rise from a reclined position, or semi-reclined position. What could be the cause of the temporary blindness and who should I go to see?

Dr. Hanif warmly Welcomes you!

Thanks for consulting at my virtual clinic. I have carefully worked through your case, and I can realize your health worries. Being your physician, I assure you not to worry as I will take care all of your medical concerns.

There are many reasons for the blindness in this way. Some has got pain some are painless.

You most probably, have got Glaucoma, in which the pressure in the globe of your eye gets high and makes the eye harder to touch too but in expert hands. It causes pressure on posterior structures of eyeball. It is an ophthalmological emergency.

You need to see an Ophthalmologist right away. He will examine the eyes under different set of mahines and will also check the eye pressure.

Don't worry its curable with medications. Rarely we need surgery for the disease.

Hope it helps. If you need further, detailed and quick assistance related to any health issues in future, feel free to 'ask me a question' directly from my profile.

Have a wonderful time ahead.

Best Regards!
