What Causes Temporary Vision Loss?

My daughter (birthdate 10/2007) woke up from a nap yesterday and could not see a thing. I know that she was fully awake because she can tell me what happened and remembers without any coaching. She regained her sight within 2-3 minutes. I took her to the ER and they did not do any tests and said that they did not want to sedate her in order to do any imaging tests. I took her to her pediatrician today who again did no testing and referred us to a pediatric neurologist. My daugher's pediatrician also said that if we can't get an appointment for up to six weeks that would be ok because this is not a life and death issue. My question is, should I be doing something differently? Could she have bleeding in her brain or anything urgent that should be looked in to, or is the wait for the neurologist acceptable??
