What Causes Tender And Distended Upper Abdominal Area?

My upper abdomen is very distended and it tender to the touch, also eating/drink makes me very nauseous at times, even something a simple has water gives me the urge to vomit or causes pain in my stomach.. also the pain can feel like a stabbing or burning sensation like my stomach is being sliced open. I was told years ago i had a hital hernia but it was nothing i should worry about, what could be causing this? (i should mention i do have ulcerative colitis, gerd, and ibs)

Hello,

Your symptoms could be related to the hiatal hernia, which may have grown in dimensions. For this reason, I would recommend performing a chest CT scan and a fibrogastroscopy. In the meantime, I would recommend taking a PPI (omeprazole or pantoprazole) twice daily and avoid large meals.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
