I have a xray I was going to try show and see if it looks normal, since I can t get in with my orthopedic until next week. My foot has been giving me issues the past week and is starting to bruise and become very tender to walk on.

Hi.

I have gone through your query.

Any kind of surgery involves cutting of the skin and soft tissue. This causes swelling and inflammation. Any kind of swelling has 4 parts. These are redness, swelling, pain, and loss of function of the area. This can cause bruising and tenderness.

Here are a few things you can try.

Icing the area for 10 to 15 mins till the area is numb
Raising the leg up with pillows when you are sleeping
Wiggling the toes gently if allowed by your doctor

In case, it does not improve, getting an X-ray would help as well.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Vignan Rachabattuni
