What Causes Tender Feeling In Neck?

Hello,

I'm experiencing a tender feeling on the left side of my neck.
It's about half-way down the neck from the ear, right behind the jaw.
It's not red or itchy, it doesn't feel swollen but that may be because it's approximatley half an inch behind the skin.
The area of which is hurting / tender is not that great.
I can also feel it when I'm turning my head in different directions, both sideways and up / down.

P.S. I'm not a native english speaker so there might be some typos or irregularities in my spelling.
