What Causes Tender Spot On And In Between The Buttocks?

Yes my boyfriend has this tender spot on the very top of his butt on the side of the inside his butt crack. It started out just being tender and now it s firm in the spot that it s tender. I don t want to say it s a lump. The best way to describe it is the feeling of a eritated bug bite how it gets very firm under the skin. There s no eritation to the skin except for what look like a scratch from him touching it.
