What Causes Tenderness And Discomfort On Lower Rib After A Injury?

I recently slipped on ice, on falling put my hand down and landed with my elbow into my lower ribs. DIscomfort comes and goes, but after 7 days still have tenderness in lower rib area. when I cough there is a lot of discomfort in that area. could this be bruised ribs, or could I have hurt something else (when cough discomfort intensifies)?

take x-ray pa view chest to exclude fracture rib. if fracture detected then strapping can be done.take tabcombiflam and apply analgesic ointment locally
