What Causes Tenderness In Blood Vessels Of Cervix?

My doctor said that i have a tender blood vessel in my cervix and as soon as she touched it to take a swab in started bleeding heavy. She has referred me to a gynacologist but it will be 6-8weeks before i hear back. I have had bleeding during sex for the past 9 years and I am worried now that it may be cancer. just need advice now.
