What Causes Tenderness In Lower Back?

hi my son had an altrasound of his kidneys because he had pain only on touch on his lower back His altra sound said he had cordial lining thinning He has no blood in his urine and blood tests come back normal. The dr said he believes it is work related and its muscle pain due to carrying heavy water My son delivers water. Also the dr said that with the lining thinning you would not have any pain. Its only pain when he touches it. Do you have any answers or help Thank you

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have tenderness in lower back . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like lifting something heavy , poor posture , being overweight , disc problem or trigger points of trapezius muscle . The pain can also occur due to kidney problem , pancreatitis and liver swelling . I would suggest you to avoid lifting heavy weight , apply warm compresses , take proper rest , do light trapezius stretching and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain . If condition doesn't get better then consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order x-ray or CT scan and physical examination . Doctor may prescribe muscle relaxant along with anti inflammatory and physical therapy and light stretching . Doctor may also refer you to nephrologist for kidney problem.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
