What Causes Tenderness In The Arm After Using HeRO Graft?

I have been on dialysis for 16 months, using a HeRO graft for the last 4-5 months. My arm would be tender at times after treatment which I was told is normal (especially because I m so small). However now there is constant pain and tenderness along the graft line by the shoulder and armpit area. My clinic still says it s nothing to worry about but the pain is increasing. What causes this, should I be concerned and who should I be talking to?

Hi
Thanks for asking HCM
Even though the HeRO graft provides long term AV access to hemodialysis, if the graft becomes too painful, i will advise the site be changed.Just discuss it with your Doctor.Pain is normal but intense pain will need to be managed even if it means changing the site of the graft. The graft site might get infected as well and will manifest with pain.Just see your Doctor to examine the site and take decisions.
Hope my answer will help you
