What Causes Tenderness In The Chest After An Injury?
I fell on Sunday and went to the ER for wrist pain. They x-rayed my hand and found it wasn t broken. They gave me medicine for pain and gave me a brace for my wrist. Now 4 days later I have tenderness in my chest on the side that I fell on. Should if see my doctor?
Thanks for your question on HCM. Due to fall, you may injured your chest and this can cause tenderness in chest. Blunt chest trauma can cause following complications and all cause chest tenderness. 1. Rib fracture 2. Pneumothorax 3. Pulmonary contusions 4. Muscle injury. So get done chest x ray to rule out above possible complications. If chest x ray is normal than no need to worry much. You may have muscle injury only. So try to follow these steps for better symptomatic relief. 1. Avoid heavyweight lifting and strenuous exercise. 2. Avoid movements causing pain. 3. Avoid bad postures in sleep. 4. Apply warm water pad on affected site. 5. Start painkiller and muscle relaxant.
