What Causes Tenderness In The Nipples?
Hi. I am a female, turning 60 next week. I haven t been to an OBGYN in about 7 years. No history of problems. A couple of weeks ago my nipples started to get very tender. I called yesterday to make an appt, and have an appt last week of March. Today I started what seems to be my period. I haven t had a period in 10 years. I am a little freaked out. Pam

Hi,
The tender nipple could be due to the inflammation cause of underlying breast tissue. Anti-inflammatory drug can be prescribed for that.
However, it's advisable to investigate with USG scan of breast and get a physical examination of the breast also.
