What Causes Tenderness In The Ribs After A Gall Bladder Surgery?

I had a liver abscess after gall bladder surgery. More than 600 ml drained in 2 weeks. Excellent results, back to normal blood counts and liver function. However, my right lung and ribs are still tender when I take a deep breath. (Drain removed 2/28 after 2 weeks in) how long is normal for bruised feeling? Never mind. I can call my Dr at no cost. All deductibles and out of pocket $$ met.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The tenderness in the ribs suggests irritation of the diaphragm through unhealed scar or biliary tract after gall bladder surgery.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Purva Patel, General & Family Physician
