What Causes Tenderness In The Shin After An Injury?

It is quite difficult to describe but a week ago I had a very minor fall off my bike & the pedal hit my shin about 3 inches above my left ankle. The area didn t swell but instead it left a dent in the sin but this went away after a day. There is no swelling in the area and I can walk completely fine without any pain. The only thing I notice is that I touch the skin in this area is that it is tender and there is a strange sensation under the skin when I try to massage this area. The only way that I can describe it is like there are air bubbles int he tissue which are moving around. There are no visible marks to the outside of the leg at all.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

As per your history, it may be due to blunt trauma

For that you can take tablet acetaminophen For pain. Apply diclofenac gel or ointment locally. Heating pads or icing will also help.

In case of swelling or not getting relief, you may require X Ray after orthopedician consultation.

Avoid direct pressure on leg. Use support while walking.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shyam B. Kale, General & Family Physician
