What Causes Tenderness Under The Arm After Radiation Treatment?

I finished 34 radiation treatments on February 24th and it is now March 6 and although I am healing the color of my burn under my arm is red like a rare cooked tenderloin. Two days ago I had a sticky green on the wound and I ve had some on my pj s in the morning? I am gone on a two week vacation for some r&r. Do I need to contact my doctor?

Hello,

It is a radiation-induced pain and will settle by itself. As a first line management, you can take analgesics like Paracetamol or Aceclofenac for pain relief.

If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
