Hello,
Your symptoms seem to be due to
cervical spondylitis. In this the
vertebral joint spaces are reduced leading to pressure symptoms on nerves coming out from the vertebrae. Trapezius and other neck muscles get affected and they go into spasm with pain. As the nerve supplies the upper limb, pain is also seen in the forearm and hand.
The following are my recommendations:
1) Take pain relieving medications like NSAIDs like tab. Ibuprofen or tab. Naproxen twice daily for 2 weeks.
2) As the above medication can cause gastric irritation, tab. Pantop is to be taken once daily before food.
3) If you have severe gastric ulceration or kidney failure or bleeding problems, you need to skip NSAIDs and take opioids like
oxycodone hydrocodone and Tramadol instead.
4)
Physical therapy to strengthen the muscles around the neck to reduce pain is important.
5) Do not exert much strain on neck by over bending or over extending it.
If your pain doesn't come down in 2 weeks, please do consult a neuro-physician for further evaluation.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
