What Causes Testicle Shrinkage Along With Insomnia?

Hi. My 20 year old sonthy informed me today one of his testicles has shrunk quite a bit recently. He seems to be very healthy so trying to figure out cause. He is college student who has stayed up studying for test a lot lately so his sleep may be inconsistent lately. Any ideas for cause of this.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Normally, one testicle is usually larger or smaller than the other. Also, they hang at different angles and one is often lower or higher than its counterpart.
One of the reasons for the change in the testicular size could be due to altered levels of hormone testosterone. Sleeplessness is generally not associated with decrease in testicular size.
Hence, it would be advisable to undergo following investigations to know what could be the cause:
1. Serum testosterone levels.
2. Ultrasound scan of scrotum.
Kindly consult Surgeon or Andrologist with report for clinical examination and appropriate management.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
