i am 31 yrs old and really have not had an acne problem since i was probably 20. 3 months ago i started getting acne on my lower arms. I was bad at first but thought nothing of it and figured it would go away. Three months later i still have the acne and it has gotten worse. it has started to move up my arms now and is on my shoulders. This is really starting to bother me and would love to know some causes of it and why i can do to cure it.
The acne like lesions on lower arm may be keratosis pilaris most probably. It is an idiopathic condition with genetic influence. There may be disturbance in keratinisation in hair follicle. It is a benign condition. The disease is characterised by keratotic papular eruptions. Retinoic acid gel 0.012% may be applied at night and vitamin E cream in morning. Cap isotretinoin 10 mg and vitamin E 400 cap once a day might be helpful. After few months of treatment you might feel good. Still, you consult dermatologist.
Thanks.
