What Causes The Appearance Of Solid Grey Circle On The Elbow X-ray?

Hi there, I was seen in a walk in clinic with a diagosis of a partially torn bicep. Two weeks later, the pain had not subsided, Advil did not do much but ROM improved- could now lift light objects and lower arm to mid trunk of body. A week later I was in extreme pain and seen in ER with pulse 146 and an x-ray showing a solid grey circle in the space of the elbow joint. The Dr and Radiologist were unsure what this is and have referred me for an ortho consult which I am patiently waiting on. I am on T3 + has one Torodol IM injection and pain has been very manageable since. Any guess as to what this could be? Thank!

Hi,

It could be a collection of blood or even inflammatory fluid which might need drainage. You should discuss with your doctor regarding the options.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshita, Ophthalmologist
