DPT vaccine has got certain mild side effects that are present in 15-20% of vacinees like mild fever,pain and redness at site of injection. However,all these symptoms can be taken care of --by giving tab /syrup acetaminophen or ibuprofen for 2 days. -holding ice pack at the site of injection. -by breast feeding when baby is crying Dangerous signs that should be watched after DPT vaccine and to be reported immediately to paediatrician or any health personnel- -continous crying for more than 3 hours -shock or collapse -seizures -allergic reaction indicated by rash, facial swelling with or without shortness of breath. These reactions imply never to give the vaccine again to child.But such reactions are extremely rare. Hope this information helps. Thanks.
