Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a small mouthful of ham & immediately felt I had some stuck to the back of my throat. It feels like I have a lump in my throat & as if the back of my tongue has torn a little, I am on holiday and its late so cannot access medical advice. What should I do ? Gargle with salt water?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of feeling of lump in the throat which could be due to soft tissue injury at back of throat leading to inflammation. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to visit ENT specialist once and go for examination and and if required go for ultrasound study to find out extent of lesion. Maintain proper oral hygiene. You should take soft and fibrous food and avoid sharp and spicy food. Avoid taking large meals at a time and take small and frequent meals. Do warm saline gargles. Avoid excessive cold carbonated drinks. Take proper course of antibiotics along with antiinflammatory medication to prevent further infection and inflammation.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
