What Causes The Feeling Of Lump In Throat Along With White Coat On Tongue?

My tongue has a white coat on it. I went to more than 3 doctors all said my tongue is germs-free and that the coat is normal. The coat appeared all of the sudden in 2012 and it is still there. It happened during a very stressful time in my life. Also, the other day my dermatologist was doing a facial and notices a swelling/lump inside my neck on the back. Is this related to my tongue? I am not convinced that what happened to my tongue is normal.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.

As per your complain a white coating over the tongue is not a normal finding and it is always pathological and the most common cause of white coating over the tongue is due to yeast infection known as Oral Thrush.
As you have swollen gland over the neck along with white coating seems to be more consistent with the symptoms of Thrush..

There can also be another cause for this which can be overgrowth of the tongue papillae which does not shed off and keeps growing as it should shed off and the new papillae grows every two weeks..

But in your case it seems to be more probably be thrush.

Nothing to worry, consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and in case of thrush antifungal mouthwash like Nystatin mouthwash, clotrimazole lozenges and taking more of probiotics in diet like Yoghurt and garlic will relieve..

For overgrown papillae cleaning the tongue daily with tongue scraper and eating more of hard foods like raw fruits and vegetables can gradually shed off the papillae..
