What Causes The Feeling Of Whistling Sound In The Ears?
hi -- i am hearing a high pitched whistling echo from any sharp sound around me in my left ear only. could this be caused by trauma or (as i ve read in one other case below), can it be purely due to infection? would it be an ongoing/current infection, or could it be a past infection with a lingering effect of this whistling echo? is there a cure for this echo? i believe i also have a bit of hearing loss in this ear compared to the right ear (i can tell there is a significant difference when i have a telephone pressed against each ear).
Hi. Thanks for your information and query. The causes of the tinnitus as we say, for the whistling sound are varied and not always found in spite of detailed exams and investigations.
Hence I would advise you the following in such a situation: -Proper ENT Examination, clinical evaluation by an ENT Surgeon. -CT scan of the mastoids -Blood tests for diabetes, typhoid, malaria and so on. -Audiometry. These tests will help us to get a cause. The treatment is always empirical as there are no sure-shot treatment medicines or procedures.
