What Causes The Habit Of Eating Slate Pencils?

Dr. I am 22 year old girl. I used to eat slate pencils. Not daily.. But presently the rate is increasing. is there any problem occur to me with this habit? I am a student, and i want to know that is this habit badly affect my mental power, concentration, memory power so on.. Now a days I lose my hair also. is there any connection between hair losing and slate pencil eating?

Eating Slate Pencils may be due to low level of Iron or Zinc in blood. Sometimes lead poisoning cause such behavior. Get your Hemoglobin done and consult a good psychiatrist. This can affect mental power, concentration or memory if deficiency of Iron, Zinc or lead poisoning are not corrected. Best wishes..
