What Causes The Palms To Go Dry?

I have a relative (75 years ) who is suffering from a disease where her palms are very dry, cracked,itchy and blackened. No lotion and medicine seems to help her. Any contact with anything..be it water also causes a burning sensation.... Any help would be greatly appreciated

I really appreciate your concern, such dry skin condition of skin of palm may be due to eczema and in my opinion this can be well managed with, moisturizing agent that contained, Urea, Lactic acid, liquid paraffin, and hydrocortisone, hope this information helps, take care and have nice day,
