What Causes The Pinky Toe Nails To Grow Upwards?

I was born with my pinky toenails growing directly upwards. When I trim my pinky nails you can bearly see them. I don t have any pain but I feel embarrassed. I was wondering what exactly was this called and the reason for it? And if surgery would be a reasonable price.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It’s something called “ingrown toenail”. It has to be excised because it might lead to recurrent infection.

You can consult a general surgeon and get it removed. Nothing much to worry as it can be done under local anaesthesia.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
General & Family Physician
