What Causes The Presence Of Excess Protein In Urine?

I am a 24yo male who just took a urine test to qualify for the Air Force & I was told I had too much protein in my urine (it wasn t much, just barely over the average). I have had no major health problems in the past, except for over the summer, found out I had chlamydia (but I took my antibiotics & felt fine & have had no continuing problems). For this protein to be in my urine, is this something that I need to be concerned about?

Dear patient,

You need to preceed with some examinations because protein in urine needs to be treated since it may damage you kidney and the entire organism.
First step is to repeat the analysis to make sure if there is protein for sure, and there has not been any mistake.
Secondly you need to make a kidney eccho-ultrasonography, Lab exams : total protein in blood, albuminemia, BUN, creatine level. This will valuate your kidney situation.

Also consider checking the level of glucose in blood, and more specifically HBa1c test (haemoglobin glycate), to exclude Diabet
which usually is a very common reason for proteins in urine.

Go and discuss these things with your local doctor who needs to prescribe the recommandations letter for this analysis.

All the best
