Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes The Sensation Of Heart Going Up The Throat?
I get this funny sensation that my heart goes up into my throat . It almost takes my breath away for a very, very brief moment. It is a very mild sensation. It occurs at rest. I thought maybe it was palpitations but when I check my heart rate, which I can palpate readily in my throat, it feels like a normal rate and rhythm, except for maybe when I take a deep breath. This feeling used to be very rare and I seemed to notice it when laying down, but it has become more frequent and I notice it sitting up as well. I am under a lot of stress right now as well.
After going through your medical query I understand your concern and I would like to tell you that this suffocated or shortness of breath can be due to anxiety or underlying serious conditions and better to get it checked.
It’s recommended for you to get and Chest X-Ray , ecg and echocardiography dine and consult a physician personally for proper treatment.
Hopefully this information will guide you properly.
Kind Regards Dr Bhanu Partap
