What Causes The Skin Yellowish Near The Nail Which Is Sore?

The part in between my skin and finger nail on my left middle finger has been hurting for a few days now. At first I noticed the area was yellow. The next day it started to hurt really bad. I put alcohol and applied neosporin to it. I tried squeezing it and some yellow puss started to come out. I have been applying peroxide and nothing had been happening. It hurts if I try to push the skin and nail together. I have been putting my finger in hot water with Epsom salt to hopefully get the infection out.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that you are suffering from Paronychia that is infection and inflammation of the skin at the side of the nail and can occur due to either injury to the nail in that area by vigorous manicure, deep cutting of the nail, injury to the nail cuticle etc..
I would suggest you to consult a General Surgeon and get evaluated and he can do a thorough clinical evaluation and treat you accordingly..
You can be advised to clean the area with antiseptic solution and apply an antibiotic and steroid ointment over it..
You can also be advised to take a short course of oral antibiotics..
If it does not resolve with medication Incision and drainage can be done..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
