What Causes The Swelling To Spread On The Bruised Toe?
My husband had accident a stack of chair crashed on his big toe it turned purple and swollen he did cold compress after about two hour after the swelling is not going down but it s spreading. He is thinking that there s water on it and he wants to prick it. What can we do please help? Thanks!
If the trauma was severe, it is possible that he sustained minor fracture to his toe.
It would be best not to puncture the area because he would run to risk of introducing bacteria under the skin and causing an infection.
He should consider elevating the area to help reduce the swelling, continue the cold compress, resting and the use of anti inflammatory pain killers such as ibuprofen/cataflam/naproxen. If the pain or swelling worsens, it would be best to see his doctor as soon as possible.
I hope this helps
