What Causes The Thick Gooey Discharge During Period After Switching The Birth Controls?
I m switching birth controls. My doctor told me to stop taking this one, as in get my period for a week, and then start my new prescription the next week. I got my period, and one of the days this thick, gooey discharge came out of me and i m wondering if it s normal. it was long and thick feeling.
During the last days of a menstrual period or just after the menstrual period, sometimes you can notice thick, soft and sticky discharge usually brown in color. This is due mixing up of collected blood in uterus with vaginal discharge and coming out. Sometimes colorless soft and sticky discharge can be seen due to the influence of reproductive hormones.
Usually this is not pathological and doesn't need treatment. If it persists or recurs in the next months, especially in the middle of the cycle, better to consult your gynecologist once, get examined to find out the possible cause and take treatment accordingly.
