What Causes The Urge For Frequent Urination With Swelling In Ankles?

Hi I am a 77 year old lady and feel like I have to go to the bathroom all the time lately. I have swollen ankles and wondering what type of over the counter medicine I can take for it. Thankyou. And what is the difference between bladder and kidney infection. Not sure which I have then. YYYY@YYYY

Hi welcome to health care magic...

You are having frequent urination and ankle swelling....
Frequent urination also can be from cystitis like bladder cause but as ankle swelling also present there might be kidney affection as well...

So your work up needed with...
-History of diabetes, smoking, cardiac history, liver problem etc...
-physical examination
-Urine routine microscopic examination and culture for rule out infection.
-USG abdomen... Etc...

Than according to cause further treatment given...

For edema if needed diuretic drug can be given....

Low salt diet preferred for edema..
