What Causes The Veins To Turn Blue?

Was getting ready for bed and I noticed in the mirror that the veins in both arms (wrist to elbow) were suddenly very blue, like someone had turned on a neon light under my skin. Never saw this before. They do not bulge and I experienced no other abnormalities, no pain, no other symptoms at all. I'm a sedentary, obese 60 year old female, not on any meds, have no allergies nor had any serious illnesses. Just take some supplements, and will take Aspirin or Tylenol for a bit of pain on occasion.

Is this normal? Or a possible warning sign for a problem?

Thank you kindly for your adivce!

General Surgeon 's  Response
Prominent veins over some parts of body are quite normal. There is nothing to worry.Pathological veins may be due to hormonal therapy, due to some obstruction in a bigger vein.
