Hello Doctor, My Wife is having preganncy of 20 Weeks, Via routine checkups In the ultrasound my doctor found two observations.1. A 3 MM choroids plexus Cyst 2. A small echogenic dot seen in the left ventricle. All other observations are normal. We have a normal baby boy of 4 yrs . Now my doctor advised me to meet Genetics splcialist. Genetic doctor has advised me for Amniocentesis test. Please advice is it neccesiry.Other other observations are normal via ultrasound. Is the test is full proog assurity that my baby would not have any abnormalities. Im in tremendous pressure please advice. In my entire familiy there is not a single case of genetics disorder ( mentally weak Childs) neither in my wife side. We are four siblings all normal. Is the above test is safe & secure i trust 1 out of 500 cases ,there can be miscarriages also.Is the test is safe for my baby & wife. Thx SN Sharma Delhi
Hello Welcome to Health Care Magic. Don't worry much. Stay calm. you can take second opinion of fetal medicine expert. just consult another doctor without telling any history and let him/her explain the situation. first confirm that everything is true. and there are mutation in genes which are not predictable. it is true that you don not have family history but mutation in genes can occur at any time. there can be miscarriage. this test is safe for your wife but baby is at risk that you know. Hope this information helps you. Best wishes.
