What Causes Thick Brown Discharge After Childbirth?

Hi I had my baby 4 months ago, I had slight bleeding in the 2nd week went to see a doctor but there was nothing wrong with me I later had a thick dark brown mucoid discharge that stopped , recently about 3 days ago I noticed I had a thick mucoid dark brown discharge, I have been breastfeeding exclusively and have not had my periods yet I had unprotected sex 12 days ago please advice, could I be pregnant?

pregnancy is possible four months after childbirth, even if you are breastfeeding. so it is certainly possible that you are pregnant. however, think brown discharge is not a typical sign or symptom of pregnancy. while it makes sense to take a home pregnancy test to check of you are pregnant, I wouldn't worry about the discharge unless it is very bothersome, persistent, or has a foul odor. if it was only for a short time and has already resolved you probably have nothing to worry about. if you do not desire pregnancy right now, you should also talk to your doctor about starting something reliable for birth control.
